At NAMA we teach traditional Taekwondo, a Korean martial art, as a part of the Choong-Sil Taekwondo Federation. This martial art uses a combination of hand and foot techniques for attack and defense. Our martial art is geared toward teaching discipline and empowering individuals with self confidence. Taekwondo training is an excellent self defense tool and, while we follow the rule it is best to stay out of situations where defending yourself is necessary, we train to enable our students to use Taekwondo for self defense when there is no other option.
Clothing: New students should wear loose fitting clothing that is comfortable and easy to move around in. Uniforms are included in your registration fee and will arrive shortly after signing up for a plan. Equipment: Students will not need to buy sparring gear until they reach the rank of green belt.
Rank (Belt) Order: Below is the order of belts students will go through as they progress in Taekwondo. When you have signed up for your first class you are a White Belt.
White → Yellow → Green → Blue → Red → Black
